200,000-Piece LEGO Rivendell (From The Same Lady Who Brought Us LEGO Hogwarts)

Posted on Updated on

lego-lotr-rivendell.jpg

This is the 5-foot x 10-foot, 200,000 piece Middle Earth LEGO Rivendell built by Alice Finch (of 400,000-piece LEGO Hogwarts fame) and David Frank. I wish I could just shrink myself down to that size and live there. Of course, I said the same thing about my little sister’s Barbie Malibu Dreamhouse, so take that with a grain of salt. And a lime wedge. And– “Are we doing tequila shots?” It’s noon, isn’t it?

Keep going for a bunch more, but be sure to checkout Alice’s Flickr page for more, high-res versions.

Gnarly!: Severed Hand Attached To Ankle To Save It

Posted on Updated on

hand-to-heel-censored.jpg

Note: Uncensored version of the shot HERE because some people are squeamish (I heard the girl sitting next to me at the coffee shop spit up a little).

This is Xiao Wei’s hand and foot. Wei lost his hand to an industrial accident in Changde, China, and, after finally making it to the hospital seven hours later (that is entirely too far to live from a hospital), doctors attached his hand to his foot to save it. After spending a month there, doctors were successfully able to reattach it, and he is expected to recover almost full functionality of the hand. When reached for comment, Wei’s heel missed his temporary friend. “He smelled good.”

Thanks to El Tigre, who once had a paw sewn to his tail.

Print-It-Yourself Cool Moving Optical Illusions

Posted on Updated on

optical-illusion-print-outs.gif

This is a video of a bunch of cool moving optical illusions you can print yourself (links to Youtube page with links to all the designs). You just need a clear sheet of transparency paper to print the overlay. Don’t have a piece of transparency paper? Then you are SHIT OUT OF LUCK. And apparently so am I, because the last six lotto scratchers I’ve scratched have netted me $0. I don’t play those little $1 and $2 games either, I do the $20’s. “You’re an idiot.” Hey, you gotta spend big to win big. “You’re an idiot.” Call the gambling help hotline for me? My phone got shut off.

Keep going for the video.

That’s It, I’m Out: Scientists Create First Cyborg Sperm

Posted on Updated on

robot-sperm.jpg

Scientists at the Institute for Integrative Nanosciences in Dresden, Germany, have developed “robotic sperm” by trapping bull sperm in metal nanotubes then controlling the direction they swim with a magnetic field. Personally, I don’t care how strong that magnetic field is, mine would still swim in circles because they are DETERMINED to not get anything pregnant. “They’re not even swimming, they’re are just lying on the bottom of the dish like dead Sea Monkeys.” Really? *tapping on glass* Maybe they’re just resting.

The resulting biobot (a ‘biological robot’, referring to a bacterium or cell which has been programmed to behave in a certain way) could be put to a range of uses, including delivering drugs to a specific target in the body or fertilising an egg, reports New Scientist.

The experiments have been led by Oliver Schmidt at the Institute for Integrative Nanosciences in Dresden, Germany. Schmidt and his team created magnetic nanotubes 50 microns long by 5 to 8 microns in diameter and dropped these into a fluid containing bull sperm.

The tubes, which are narrower at one end to stop the sperm from escaping, can then be rotated by using magnetic fields. The tail-like flagellum of the sperm cell sticks outside the end of the tube and powers the biobot around the fluid like an outboard motor.

Did you know actual robot sperm are just bullets? That’s true. I’ve also been shot before and you know I’m telling the truth because why would I lie about getting hit with robot sperm? That’s not something you brag about.

Thanks to Pyrblaze and Thaylor H, who heard people with magnetic implants are twice as likely to get pregnant with a robot’s baby.

I Choose None Of You: Realistic 3-D Rendered Pokemon

Posted on Updated on

realistic-pokemon-1.jpg

This is a small series of Pokemon (Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur) by artist Yuuki Morita that have been rendered realistically using 3-D animation/modeling programs Maya and ZBrush. If you had to choose one, which one would you pick? I would pick you. Plus I would pick you first for kickball or dodgeball because, even though you aren’t good at either, you are my friend. And friends stick together. Until you piss me off. Then it’s a bout of passive-agressiveness until you stop responding to my texts. Months later, I will egg your house.

Keep going for the other two.

Finally: A Decent Sailor Moon Bra And Panty Collection

Posted on Updated on

sailor-moon-underwear-1.jpg

If there’s one thing I love, it’s nudity. If there’s one thing I love but nudity is prohibited, it’s sexy lingerie. This is a line of upcoming Sailor Moon themed bras and underwear from lingerie retailer Peach John and Sailor Moon creator Neoko Takeuchi. Each of the sets above will sell for around $50 when they’re released next year. Me? I still wear some of the same boxers I’ve had since high school. They are vintage now. I assume these aren’t meant to be worn under clothes because those frills and bows would make you look bulgy. Women don’t like looking bulgy. Me? I do everything I can to add bulge. Especially in the…you know. “Crotch area?” God no, I’d scare anyone who saw me. I was going to say calves.

Keep going for a couple more varieties.

Cheating: 51% Of People In Relationships Will Watch Their Joint Shows Behind Their Partner’s Back

Posted on Updated on

netflix-cheating.jpg

Because Netflix is a shameful homewrecker, according a recent study 51% of people in relationships will watch their and their partner’s “couple’s” shows behind the other’s back. But I thought you said you hadn’t seen this one before! “I lied.” I can’t believe it! Are you really leaving for work in the morning or do you just spend all day f***ing other people?

In a study of 2000 adults, 51 percent said they either had or would commit the act of betrayal. Of those who confessed to cheating, 41 percent refrained from sharing spoilers with their significant other [and another 14 percent will rewatch the episode and fake not knowing what’s going to happen]. 21 percent admitted to watching the next episode while their partner was sleeping next to them in bed.

Wow, watching while their partner is asleep in the bed next to them? That is LOW. I mean, that is DESPICABLE. That…is something I do all the time. You know how many times I’ve had to feign surprise at a plot twist? Every single one. Although sometimes I’ll pretend to “guess” what’s going to happen before it does just to look smart. I’m probably the worst kind of person in the world.

Thanks to lilco, who would never watch a shower behind her lover’s back because of taste and decency.
